RENT CONTROL

Rent Control is a type of law that restricts both the the reasons by which you can evict a tenant as well as the amount of rent you can charge.  Its rules govern the relationship between a landlord and tenant despite any provisions in your lease agreement that may say otherwise.  Though the State of California has adopted statewide Rent Control, local cities and counties may have their own set of Rent Control laws that, if stricter than the State's, might take precedence over the State's laws.

Here are some key bits of information regarding the new statewide Rent Control Laws that you should be aware of as a landlord, however, to better protect yourself and to maintain control of your properties, please do not hesitate to set up a consultation with one of our attorneys.
